Born in 1977 in Hajipur, Bihar, Dhananjay Singh is a contemporary sculptor known for his intricate and delicate forms. He earned his Bachelor's in Sculpture from the Faculty of Visual Arts, Banaras Hindu University, and a Master's from M.S. University, Vadodara. A brief teaching stint at NIFT Gandhinagar enriched his artistic journey. Singh has received several prestigious accolades, including the Commonwealth Arts and Crafts Award (London, 2005), INLAKS Fine Art Award (2005), National Lalit Kala Akademi Award (2002), and a Gold Medal from BHU (2000). A turning point came during his 2006 residency at Monash University, Australia, where he was inspired by bronze casting techniques. This led him to develop a distinctive sculptural language, crafting intricate human and organic forms using finely twisted bronze and copper wires. His exploration of fragility extends into his drawings and watercolours, where ethereal, tendril-like figures seem to float in mysterious, interconnected worlds.
