Delicate chromatic indices and textures, grids that converge and coalesce, the cityscapes form the album of her memories. In Buddha we see the result of an aerial wide angled study, an otherworldly space, an incommensurable galactic realm where forms—notably, a spattering of spots and truncated as well as looped lines—appear to recede and emerge from multiple layers of paint added in meticulous dimensions of Buddha and his monks under the banyan tree. In her Meerabai color becomes a dynamism that challenges our optical footing and sense of cognitive mastery. Poonam aligns herself with a long tradition of painting but adds architectural dynamics of illusion, which intends to inspire an overwhelming awe and to the cadence of devotion.
