Nicola Roos (b. 1994) is a South African sculptor who graduated with a BA Fine Arts degree (Sculpture Major) from Michaelis School of Fine Art, University of Cape Town in 2016. Her outstanding academic performance earned her multiple awards including the Simon Gerson Prize, the Michaelis Prize for achieving 95% for Studio Work, and twice being placed on the Faculty of Humanities Dean's List. Her work has been shown internationally, with solo exhibitions at Simchowitz Gallery in Los Angeles (2023) and Evergold Projects in San Francisco (2020). Her sculptures are held in major collections including the Rollins Museum of Art (USA) and various private collections across multiple continents. Roos has participated in contemporary African art exhibitions both locally and internationally, with her ongoing "No Man's Land" series creating over 30 versions of the African Samurai character, Yasuke.
