Rini Dhumal (b. 1948, Bengal) is an acclaimed Indian artist known for her exploration of painting and printmaking. A graduate of M.S. University, Baroda, she has been instrumental in bringing printmaking into the mainstream of Indian art. Her works often focus on a mysterious, faceless woman, symbolizing abstract concepts of human relationships. Dhumal’s distinctive approach merges emotion with visual storytelling, showcasing her mastery of both painting and print techniques.
Throughout her career, she has received prestigious awards, including the Chancellor’s Gold Medal (1972) and a seat on the Governing Council of the National Institute of Design (1997). She has exhibited worldwide and collaborated with eminent artists like K.G. Subramanian, W. Hayter, and Krishna Reddy.
Dhumal’s contribution to art extends beyond her work—she remains a key figure in contemporary Indian art. She lives and works in Vadodara.
