The artwork is inspired by Michelangelo’s ‘Pieta’ sculpture. The Pietà is a subject in Christian art depicting the Blessed Virgin Mary cradling the mortal body of Jesus Christ after his Descent from the Cross. In the middle of the painting St Pancras Lock can be seen in darker colour. St Pancras Lock is a lock on the Regent's Canal, in the London Borough of Camden, England. St Pancras Lock is a mix of old and new. There is a traditional canal lock cottage which sits on an island between St Pancras Cruising Club basin and the new developments at Kings Cross.
