Whittled Worlds, Forms , Faces & Facets
Whittled Worlds Forms, Faces & Facets The curatorial essence of Whittled Worlds lies in exploring seven parallel realms, each firmly rooted in its own culture, chaos, chemistry, and creativity. These worlds, while spinning on different axes, harmoniously merge to enrich the cosmic tapestry. Each of these seven worlds is meticulously crafted, brimming with fresh forms, faces, facets, and fantasies. They are historically, culturally, socially, and personally distinct, representing the creative journeys of seven remarkable artists. This illustrious group includes sculptors Ankit Patel from Jaipur, Arun Pandit from New Delhi, Ashish Das and Debashish Bera from Vadodara, Gilli & Marc from Sydney, and painters Madan Lal from Chandigarh and Nilesh Vede from Mumbai. Their works, ranging from hybrid sculptures in bronze, wood, and brass to vibrant canvases, emanate emotional frequencies that inspire wonder, joy, harmony, and peace. These creations are more than just visually delightful artefacts — they are deeply meaningful and soulful, unlocking emotional energies through their thoughtful craftsmanship. While each artist’s journey, technique, and medium differ, they are unified by their shared energy and resonance. Ankit Patel’s world, for instance, is a nostalgic celebration of his childhood memories, expressed through vertical, horizontal, and circular forms. Arun Pandit, on the other hand, crafts nuanced embodiments that symbolically explore life’s paradoxes. Although Ashish Das and Debashish Bera hail from the same region, their artistic universes diverge significantly. Ashish’s solemn, Sanskritized human figures and captivating beasts provoke deep thought, while Debashish’s creations—shaped by his international exposure—feature intricately carved figures in wood, marble, and bronze. Gilli & Marc’s world is unlike any other, revolving around their iconic muses, Rabbitwoman and Dogman. These hybrid personas symbolize unity and carry a powerful message of environmental conservation, reflecting the duo’s passion for nature. The painters, Madan Lal and Nilesh Vede, share the same medium yet inhabit distinct realms. Nilesh’s works are infused with socio-cultural narratives and Buddhist influences, while Madan’s canvases burst with vibrancy, optimism, and euphoria, creating a world that feels like seventh heaven. Together, these seven artists form a constellation—one brighter than the famed Pleiades, or the Seven Sisters. Their co-existing worlds, each lovingly whittled and energetically aligned, inspire both personal and collective evolution. These “seven stars” elevate us to embrace positivity and strive for creative and emotional growth.
