This work juxtaposes a dining tray with farmland, creating a sarcastic question about our r elationship with food: When you sit down at the dinner table, do you ever think about where your food comes from, how it is produced, and whose labour brings it to your plate? The work draws from the Bengali proverb “কত ধােন কত চাল?”— literally, “How much rice comes from how much paddy?” The proverb points to the process behind what we consume, reminding us that the food on our table is connected to land, cultivation, labour, and the lives of farmers.
