A graduate of Monumental and Decorative Painting from the prestigious Repin’s Institute of Painting, St. Petersburg, Bakhodir Jalal is one of the most celebrated muralists of Uzbekistan and central Asia. Though his inspirations range from architecture, mosaics, nature, and by more formalist elements of western modernism, Jalal’s art practice is firmly rooted in his national heritage. With a career spanning over four decades, he produces works that merge various techniques reflecting his country’s ancient traditions, culture, and socio-political climate.
